So, you think you're tuned in to all of the latest trends?

Perhaps you are -- but have you caught the latest rage? That's right, "Tablescaping" is upon us...

So what is "tablescaping?" Here's the idea:

Of course these are pretty far out -- not what you would typically find in a restaurant...

Nevertheless, your next ingredient for this project is to develop a custom printing "piece" which might appear on the table at your restaurant.

THE SPECS:

Create a three-dimensional folded object which will be featured on the table of your restaurant. This object should be of a significant size (in other words, not tiny), and should somehow add to the "memorable" nature of your restaurant's atmosphere.

NEXT CLASS:

Please arrive on time with an assembled dummy.

There are two requirements for this dummy:

It MUST stand on its own without any assistance

It MUST have some printed element as part of the design

Naturally the piece SHOULD tap into your restaurant aesthetic. Think about using your pattern, your logo, type treatments, and other artwork you have developed.

These ideas demonstrate a classic "table tent," which is a twice-folded piece that stands up on the table -- as seen here:

Note: In order to create a piece of significant size, you will likely need to combine
multiple pieces of paper...

Don't forget about the INSIDES of the design -- these are the subtleties that
will help bring your project to life!

This design has a nice die-cut -- it's not that difficult, but it can make
a big impact. Make sure you are thinking about stock choice!

A nice cover stock should have the stiffness to "stand-up" on its own...

Don't do this!

You must MAKE something that stands up on it's own.

There must be a structural element or some sort of fold
that allows your design to stand.

If you have questions about that, be sure to ask!

Of course there are all sorts of other ideas you might consider...

Think about what really fits with your restaurant, and consider how
adventuresome you might be with your folding and construction.

You are welcome to use any templates found online for pieces, or
naturally, consider creating your own...
